Cheap Tickets to Shows While On Holiday

An outing for the family to a West End show, or an opera or ballet in Royal Opera House, is rapidly becoming just as costly as taking short vacation outside the country.

Last year, according to Telegraph Culture, the highest prices for tickets for one night inside the theatre, was three times the price you would pay the previous decade. The price of premium seats in such shows as The Book of Mormon is now priced at £152 each.  You could pay up to £500 just for a meal, drinks or programs; the cost excludes travel and hotel expenses. This amount was meant for a family of four, and yet it would not even be enough to earn you the best seats. It is because of such prices that box office earned £585m in 2013 from West End.

It is not any cheaper to get tickets for an opera or the ballet. For instance, to get a premium seat for the ballet Swan Lake, which will take place up to April in the Royal Opera House, you will need £97.

However, it is possible to get cheaper tickets, but only if you know where to get them and when you should look for them. You might also need not to be choosy about where your seat will be, or the time and date you get to visit.

1. Sign Up To Newsletters and Mailing Lists

One of the easiest and fastest ways to spend less on concert tickets is ensuring you are the first to know about it.

You can use such outlets as Ticketline, Ticketmaster, Seetickets and 365tickets to log in to newsletters. This way you can find out the time for on and pre-sale tickets will be available.

Fan post lists are a good way to get information on tour dates in advance. Here, you can also get the special priority offers deals given to fans. Those with O2 Priority  may have the chance to get exclusive deals and offers two days before the release of pre-sale tickets for concerts.

2. Buy Direct From the Venue

There is certainty that if you buy your ticket directly from a concert venue, you will get it at a relatively lower price. It is possible to save between 10% and 15% since you will have reduced on the cost of delivery and booking fees will not be incurred.

3. Check Ticket Marketplaces

You can easily compare the prices of West End tickets through comparetheatretickets.com. This site looks for the most favorable deals from several main ticket agencies such as Love Theatre and Ticketmaster. You should look at trustworthy ticket marketplaces such as viagogo. Here, it is easy for people to sell or buy tickets; and they are assured of safety.

You can freely get tickets for sold-out concerts, or you can just get an unwanted ticket on a last minute negotiation for an event that is taking place quite soon. Getting an advance ticket or waiting for the last minute may just be your lucky way to find a good ticket deal.

4. Buy In Advance from Major Ticket Outlets

If you decide to get your concert ticket from a main outlet for tickets such as Ticketmaster, you may require a number of hints for you to cut more on the ticket cost. In case the tickets are for tours and events by major artists, it is advisable that you lower your ticket cost by simply waiting before you buy your ticket. Prices, in most cases, reduce after they first get into the market.

However, it is important to note that if the venue for a major artist’s show is small, ticket prices may rise with time. In this case the best way to get a cheaper ticket is by buying it in advance. In case the artist is spending more than one day in a town, you should avoid getting tickets for day one, they are mostly the most costly.

5. Don't Forget To Check Ebay and Gumtree

It is also a good idea to get a deal from a person who wants to quickly give out their unwanted tickets. To get a good deal, it is advisable that you go to such auction sites as EBay, and classified sites such as Gumtree. EBay provides tags for concert tickets; hence it is easy to look for related approaching sales.

You must always look at the seller feedback and reviews to avoid getting entangled with a deceitful vendor. If dealing with online ticket dealers, make sure you are using a secure site before giving out sensitive information such as credit card details or bank account details. Keep in mind that the internet is full of fraudulent people; it never hurts to be extra cautious.
